This fixed-blade EDC knife is top-notch. The ankle wrap is the most comfortable I’ve ever worn for more than 16 hours, and it’s the greatest I’ve ever had with a knife. In all honesty, I frequently forget that it exists. I’ve had it for about two weeks and have worn it every day.
I have no regrets whatsoever about my purchase. You could wear it as a neck knife or scout carry with ease because it is light enough, thin enough, and has a lockup that is secure enough to prevent the knife from dislodging. The provided belt tabs appear to be sufficiently sturdy and are big enough to fit a 1.75″ belt width. The 420HC steel is not something I particularly like because it requires resharpening more frequently than I’d like. But as a backup on an ankle, it works perfectly. There will be no corrosion, no need to worry, and the edge will be available.
Nothing prints on this device AT ALL. I’ve included some images of it worn as well as one with the pants pulled forward and over it. There is ZERO printing, and as I’ve previously stated, I frequently forget it’s there.
It’s a small knife. Although the pinkie isn’t usually at the end of the handle and my hands are L/XL, it still feels like a secure grip for a skeletonized knife. Both the rubberized coating and I detest it. It will eventually wear off, but for now, it’s an excellent option because you can only wrap so much paracord around the handle before it starts to interfere with the sheath. When the rubber begins coming off, maybe I’ll plasti-dip it.
Just a word of warning. Although the locking is excellent, there appear to be two metal detents within that might potentially degrade the edge of the knife when inserted or removed. Although I haven’t experienced any issues in that regard, it’s something to be aware of.
– Mount the knife in the exact opposite manner from how it is depicted in the picture. When the strap is flat, mount it so that the upward curve goes away from the projecting handle rather than down. This is due to the fact that the wrap’s shorter side will be wrapped around your ankle’s smaller half. Your calf’s widest base will be covered by the longer length of the wrap.
I mounted to the ankle wrap using all six screws. Although you could apply a drop of loctite blue to each screw, nothing has loosened up after you tightened all six down after two weeks of everyday use.
– There is absolutely no need to cinch the wrap down hard. It seems to be held in place by a thin stretch alone.
Since I am left-handed, I had to move the knife to the 7 or 8 o’clock position when wearing this on my left ankle to prevent the strap buckle from resting against the front of my shin. For the first day or two, that was the sole discomfort. Unless they carry on the inside of the leg, right-handed carriers won’t have this issue.
