Esee Izula 2
The IZULA 2 is my personal favourite in the IZULA Family. It has a very grippy Micarta handle that is automatically attached but that you can remove if you prefer. This knife has a slightly longer handle than the original IZULA and a 2.875″ drop point blade made of 1095 steel. It has a lot of belly and offers great edge retention, great wear resistance, but also comes with corrosion resistance. It also has a dropped tip that adds more effectiveness.
The only negative aspect of this knife would be its corrosion resistance; you need constantly take excellent care of it to prevent rust. This knife is particularly perfect for your outdoor activities, like camping, trekking, and bushcraft.
Esee 3
The ESEE 3 is an outgrowth of Randall’s training experience, and this knife design is really what launched their entire knife lineup. The Esee 3 has a 3.875″ broad drop point blade made from 1095 Steel, which offers great hardness and wear-resistance, great edge retention, and good corrosion resistance. It has plenty of a belly, which is kind of a hallmark of Esee’s designs, thanks to teh fact that Esee is a standalone knife brand.
The ESEE 3 has a very well-rounded blade shape, a full flat grind that makes it an excellent slicer, a finger choil where you can choke up and get those little fin details to work with the tip of the blade, and a sheath with plenty of hoops. I really like the ESEE 3 because of how thin it is, because it’s very thin so it’s ultra concealable, and because it works great for tactical situations where concealment is the priority.
Conclusion – Esee Izula 2 Vs Esee 3
The Izula 2 is a great EDC with a legal blade length, but if you need a bigger knife, the ESEE 3 is better because you have more blade in your knife and, in my opinion, the ESEE 3 can cut through tougher materials than the Izula 2. Both knives are great small knives for EDC and even outdoor, camping, hunting, and food preparation. They both come with the 1095 steel, which offers great hardness and wear-resistance.
