The Ka-Bar Becker BK2 Companion is ranked first on this list. This is my very first bushcraft knife and remains my all-time favorite. Its terrible cutting ability improves your bushcrafting survival skills. The blade of this knife is 5.25 inches and is composed of durable 1095 Carbon steel.
The blade’s drop point form and simple edge are beautiful. The steel is not corrosion-resistant but is simple to sharpen, and it has a tough black, non-reflective epoxy coating finish. This blade’s 0.26-inch thickness makes it simple to bend and cut wood. Its mending handle, which is made of Zytel, offers a secure grip.

It is made of durable nylon. The handle slabs are securely fastened. The BK2’s robust blade pairs perfectly with the handle’s three high-quality hex nuts. The handle has a very firm grip thanks to its subtle roughness. And it held up well when the baton was dropped, hurled, and subjected to additional abuse, usually exposing any scratches in full.
The blade’s tip can be used as a makeshift hammer. It has a belt loop and a polyester GFN-PA66 sheath that make carrying it simple. It can function as a spear because to the sturdy overall design. Since this knife is thicker than any other knife I’ve seen, I can pretty much chop and throw objects without worrying about breaking this monstrous weapon.

The best knife purchase I’ve ever made, by far. I went camping with the BK2 to see what all the hoopla was about. Batoning was easy despite the knife’s intimidating 1/4″ thickness. It quickly dismantled some tough wood I used for my fire, yet it kept its edge so I could make several feather sticks.
The texture of the black finish is rather rough, so I used fine-grit sandpaper to smooth it down. If you decide to use a nice pair of outdoor gloves, grip shouldn’t be an issue because the handle material is very smooth. Hockey tape is usually sitting around because we live in Canada; I wrapped the handle in one piece of hockey tape, and it appeared to work. Because the handle is so light, the weight of the blade can do the job when chopping.
